Westgate Concert Band has about 45 active members; approximately half are secondary or tertiary students. Several players have been part of this band for over fifteen years. Being a member of Westgate involves:

• rehearsing a range of music(original works for symphonic wind band, transcriptions of orchestral scores, arrangements of jazz, vocal and pop music) every Saturday morning during school terms
• playing entertaining/popular music every few weeks at community venues (eg.Scienceworks)
• performing in more formal concerts 3-4 times a year.

New members are most welcome particularly if you play a band instrument at a standard of about AMEB grade 3 and above.

Westgate rehearses each Saturday morning from 9am to 12 noon at Braybrook College, 352 Ballarat Rd, Braybrook (enter from Burke St) - Melways 27 B10.

Performances are predominantly on weekends, usually Sunday afternoons. There are no formal auditions for prospective new members. We prefer that you sit in with the band for 3 or 4 rehearsals before a mutual decision is made about whether you are going to stay.

Formally becoming a member involves paying a fee of $15 per quarter (or $50 per year) and purchasing a Westgate uniform shirt.
