Westgate Concert Band is an incorporated body with an accredited constitution and an active Committee which meets monthly. An Annual General Meeting of all members is conducted each year. Westgate is proud of its record of good governance.

The Committee is elected each year by the AGM as are the Executive positions (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) The AGM also appoints Musical Directors

The Committee consists of:
(a) up to three Musical Directors -ex-officio members
(b) three parents of band members -elected
(c) four band members - elected

The Committee is empowered to co-opt up to three extra members (including "friends of the band").

The Committee manages the affairs of the band other than those matters that are purely musical in nature. These are the direct responsibility of the Musical Directors. Committee responsibilities include collecting fees, initiating fundraising, organizing social activities, camps and the non-musical aspects of concerts, purchasing music, instruments and other equipment. Westgate Concert Band is an independent, self-sustaining community organization.
